Ever so occasionally, I will experience a fengshui attack and rearrange everything on my desk. This happened soon after I realised I have the posture of an 80 year old woman (see: this post) and decided it was because I was practically kissing my monitor. Now, the working flaw of a designer tends to be the uncontrollable desire to have everything right in front of him/her. This means, at any given time, you would have paper, notes, sketches on top of your keyboard and mouse and your face pressed up against the monitor. (Sidenote: Larger/dual monitors alleviate this).
However, since the recent fengshui tactic, more bad luck has befallen me!
- I accidentally deleted my favourite playlist for iTunes (it’s called “undo” assholes, look into it!)
- I dropped my bottle of water (always uncovered) and in trying to retrieve it, knocked over the mirror on my desk and its stand broke
- I got into work on Monday morning and my computer would not start. Its currently held hostage by Apple (2 strikes!) due to motherboard failure. I am currently using the spare, intern’s computer (OS X Version 10.3.9 – god help me)
I know that I should consider moving everything back to they way it used to be but something tells me this small act of moving the things in my workspace has created an imperceptible shift of energy in my life. Something is telling me that change, it is a-comin’ and I should not fight it. I am a person of creature comforts and change completely throws me off my game.
But!
I have decided (not only to not use more exclamations in this post) but to also accept whatever the universe throws my way. Computer melt-down, maybe I’ll get an upgrade. Ridiculously inappropriate men, maybe I’m chalking up credit. I’m actually pretty interested to see how it’ll all turn out in the end.
So, here’s the re-fengshuied desk, sans comments and with.
em said…… fengshui does make things happen,
like as mentioned “shift of energy in your life”
hmmmmmmmm, interesting.
So far, everything that has happened has been bad – but I am willing to see what happens. For a negative person, I have an admirable amount of hope. 😀
