Mental Health Days.

The start of my long “free to be me” weekend. I’ve needed this time off to unwind and recharge my brain – which is frazzled, drained and dull. I spent a great day with Sim, just shopping and crapping on. Just shopping took me out slightly over 600 bucks – but this included a pair of Denim for Immortality jeans so I think I did pretty ok.

Tomorrow will be: massage, sushi and a little more shopping for essentials (bath stuff and nail polish). And guess what – the day after is only Saturday – we should have 3 day workweeks.

I am so glad I decided to do this for myself – no-one is going to give you mental time off – you have to just grab it for yourself. We’re on our own.

I’m about to lose it.

Have you ever felt like you’re about to kill everyone around you and then slit your jugular wide open with a 250gsm piece of paper? My work rage is growing by day and I am often torn between wanting to inflict harm on other or on myself – the lesser of 2 evils – whichever would end this daily madness.

What is it with people who place themselves in the position to do nothing other than comment – and when asked to help/make helpful suggestions/provide alternative solutions – they disappear or throw it back to you? Am I that old fashioned that I believe – when you confront someone with a problem, you should also have a viable solution – instead of just criticising and ripping things to shred willy nilly?

My past two work weeks have been painful, tiring and hard. Every hour on the hour, I am resisting the overwhelming urge to just get up, take my bag and leave. It is a very sad thing when you career becomes a job solely because of where you work. And it’s even more sad when the money you get is not enough for the compromising design choices you have to make. I know it sounds terribly dramatic, but designing even the shittiest thing requires soul and when that is given away, you feel pretty ripped.

Wow, what a rambling.

I Want To Ride(Get) My Bicycle.

I so want this bicycle. The Abici Granturismo Donna – I have no idea what it costs (over 2K?) but it’s too pretty to be cheap. I can see myself zipping around (yes, in my bicycle fantasy, I zip) with a little wicker basket in the front and Dolce sitting in it, looking like a Roman chihuahua. I may or may not have a scarf around my neck and I am wearing cropped cigarette pants. Bella donna!

Viva La Coldplay!

Coldplay was supreme. So supreme I am actually blogging about it. Generally speaking, when asked to list my top 5 bands, I never put Coldplay in there but when push came to shove (i.e. at the concert) – I knew all the words to their songs – who knew.

I almost fainted when they performed Fix You, which is my ultimate favourite Coldplay song – I have to really give props to the audience who sang along, most enthusiastically, to every song. With the first encore song being The Scientist, I think I was ready to slide out of my chair (though I technically only sat during the brilliantly performed The Hardest Part – cos he asked everyone to. If only they performed the Lost? version but did Lost! instead but equally as good). Had they had performed Warning Sign or Don’t Panic, I would have pissed myself – overall, the number 2 concert I have ever attended. The band was wonderfully warm and respectful of their audience, constantly thanking everyone for their Monday night. It was completely crazy when they had an acoustic set, standing in the middle of the audience, on the chairs. It was wonderful to feel that you weren’t just another stop on their tour. An amazing band live – I am so glad I went for this. Brill, brill, brilliant.

5 t-shirts does not a t-shirt girl make.

Up to last week, I owned 3 t-shirts I go out in public with – those rip-off music tees (Pink Floyd and Guns N Roses – hey, I stand by the choices. I’m sure 3/4 of the people who own those “vintage” band t-shirts don’t even listen to their music. I’m a purist) and one from Graniph – which looks straight of a Josef Mueller Brockmann poster.

So, I picked up another 2 t-shirts from Graniph last week, personally, I find the local selection a bit shoddy especially when you look at the vast array on the website but I made do. I am currently wearing the pink one with skinny jeans, black heels and a sleeveless black hoodie jacket. I would take a picture but it means I have to do it in the loo like a total loser.

So, I am now the proud owner of 5 t-shirts (this isn’t counting the crappy t-shirts with holes that I use at home).

These are other shirts I wouldn’t mind getting (like the design dweeb I am):

I now have to go back to my shite job.
